我和中国

前言

　　In recent years， more and more American university students who choose to study Chinese havealready had some Mandarin background. It is agreed in Chinese-teaching circles that students with Mandarinbackground should be taught separately from those otherwise， and a textbook suitable for the formergroup should be compiled accordingly. Me and China is designed to meet this purpose； it is a first-yearChinese textbook for the university students who have listening and speaking skills to conduct everydayconversations in Mandarin while the reading and writing ability is still at the beginning level.　　Before compiling this textbook， we had made a lot of investigations on the studentg demands andexpectations in the form of questionnaires and individual interviews. According to our investigations， theystudy Chinese mainly for four purposes，　　1. To appropriately express their ideas in Chinese.　　2. To seek their Chinese roots.　　3. To visit China.　　4. To find answers to questions and confusions during their previous visit to China through studying Chinese.　　According to their demands and expectations， we compiled Me and China.

《我和中国(简繁体对照))》内容简介：Me and China is a new textbook designed for college students of Chinese heritage who have some background in conversational Chinese.All three US-based instructors have extensive experience teaching Chinese heritage learners in the United States. A wide range of topics focus on the students, their families, college life, Chinese history and culture, and contemporary China. The subjects are presented in a way that is fresh, varied, lively, and easy to grasp. Me and China's innovative exercises and hands-on activities are designed to reinforce sentence pattems and to provide opportunities for students to practice their Chinese in real-life situations.
