《丘吉尔传》书评

翻译尚可，史实准确，但是写的非常呆板，毫无生趣!

毫无疑问，马丁.吉尔伯特也属于那种“红学家”一类的人物。他的饭碗和声誉都来源于详尽的研究丘吉尔，并兼及二战历史。正如现在仍有很多“专家”大钻、特钻《红楼梦》的故纸堆，并美其名曰“红学”一样。但是，他比那些迂腐的“红学家”们还是要高明一些的。他毕竟与伦道夫共同撰写了长达八卷的丘吉尔官方传记。这部鸿篇巨制不仅被尼克松在《领袖们》一书中大力推荐，也得到了很多其他历史学家和政治家的大力推荐。然而，或许是碍于八卷本难以普及之故吧，马丁老先生在1992年出版了本书（英文版参见：http://www.amazon.com/Churchill-Life-Martin-Gilbert/dp/0805023968/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1313236558&sr=1-5）。这个单卷本虽然易于普及，但是它的弱点也尽显无疑：八卷本的丘吉尔传，我虽未曾读过（国内似乎尚无译本），但想来应该是靠广博的历史资料和详细的分析论证而出类拔萃的。否则怎么会有那么多人推荐呢？然而，这个单卷本虽然保持了原八卷本的“史实准确”这一优点，却也走向了另一个极端——完全成了一个扩充版的“丘吉尔年谱”，毫无名人传记那种鲜活的色彩和优美的文笔。怎不令人惋惜呢？拿起这本书，翻开后，每一章的叙述都是“19XX年X月X日，丘吉尔……两周后……X月X日，丘吉尔……，三天后……”简直是枯燥死人不偿命！要知道，像丘吉尔这样的传奇政治家的生活有多少值得展开的东西啊！可是全被这个单卷本给抹杀了。而且，对于二战后，丘吉尔第二次担任首相的历史叙述非常少，仅仅在最后三章写到了。最后总结一下：幸好丘吉尔本人是位杰出的历史作家，要了解他，还是读他本人的作品比较好。可供推荐的有江苏人民出版社的一套“丘吉尔文集”，收录了《我的早年生活》、《思想与经历》、《苦难与血泪——丘吉尔演讲集》、《二战回忆录》（节译本）等，还可以买他的“一战”、“二战”回忆录来看，都比这本强。另外，还有两本书非常值得推荐：莫兰的《丘吉尔私人医生回忆录》（该书也为尼克松在《领袖们》一书中推荐，我刚刚读完，的确很好。上海人民有译本）和沃尔特.汤普森的《保镖揭秘丘吉尔》（该书绝不是粗制滥造山寨货，是真实历史，BBC曾因汤普森的叙述而拍摄了系列纪录片“丘吉尔的保镖”，在优酷上可以看到。山东人民有译本）。这本书还是当做一个不了解“二战”和丘吉尔的人做一个可有可无的“入门”吧。当然，本书翻译的还可以。PS：我一直认为，人物传记这种历史叙述体裁，它与一般历史书的最大不同在于：应该充分突出描写和分析传主的性格、心理、成长环境变化以及各种行为背后那些难以被准确判定的东西。如果仅仅是严格的罗列史实，我们还看传记干什么？直接读《世界通史》、《中国通史》、《美国通史》、《第二次世界大战战史》、《冷战史》就行了。读伟人传记，正是要通过研究他们的心路历程来对自己的现实生活有所裨益。所以，我更喜欢德国传记作家埃米尔.路德维希的《拿破仑》、《林肯》、《俾斯麦》（国际文化出版社有译本）写作手法，类似的还有布莱恩.克罗泽的《戴高乐》（商务印书馆有译本）、詹姆斯.伯恩斯的《罗斯福：狮子与狐狸》（国际文化出版社有译本）、罗斯.特里尔的《毛》（河北人民、中国人大均有译本）、迪克.威尔逊的《周》（国际文化出版社有译本）、伊恩.克肖的《希特勒》（世界知识出版社有译本）和沃尔科戈诺夫的《斯大林》（国际文化出版社有译本）等。

读这本书让我了解到二战时期英国首相丘吉尔是怎么样的一个人，性格坚定如钢铁一样的意志，他最令我震撼的一点就是他的巨大勇敢无畏和谋略的魄力，还有被战争所吸引。记得他的二战演讲，“不惜一切努力取得最终胜利”！正是有了他那种卧薪尝胆和不屈意志，他领导英国战胜了史上最可怕最残忍最邪恶的法西斯力量。嘴里叼着雪茄，脸上坚定的表情，冷峻的下巴，比当时的很多巨头都要帅！他还喜爱绘画，博览群书，自己写战争英雄小说，为报社写政治评论，战地报道，他的稿费非常可观，占了他的收入的很大一部分。他的母亲是美国超级富翁的女儿，父亲是前国会议员，在学校里只努力学习自己喜欢的科目，通过父亲进入军校，饱读军书，通过母亲成为兼职战地记者，一听闻古巴战事，立刻飞身前往，斗志激昂参与到战事中去，慢慢展现出一位出色的军事家的才能。

时势造英雄，前提是他是做英雄的料

从今年2月份开始看《邱吉尔传》，每天看一点点，就是当做是在一个充满脂粉味的大学里的一种调剂吧！首先我得说邱吉尔，放在任何一个年代，都可以算得上是一个杰出的人物，撇开他马尔巴罗家族的高贵血统不说，他也是一个卓越的战地记者，一个精力充沛的政客，一个对形势变化十分敏感的人，一个优秀的演说家，一个仁慈的霸主。他的伟大程度，在那个年代无疑是和他的体重成正比的。一个优秀的人往往拥有一个不太成功的首映式，在哈罗和桑霍斯特，邱吉尔无疑都不顶成功。一个数学考零分，坐在最后一排的学生，一个不合格的海军军官，一个习惯利用自己母亲伦纳德勋爵遗孀身份的年轻人，我不觉得他的出场比那些后来默默无闻的军政人员好到哪里去，除了他的家世，他无疑是平凡的人。然而他做出了许多不平凡的事，去参加镇压苏丹马赫迪起义并发表文章（我这里不是在为殖民主义招魂，当然我希望祖国有那么一天。。），去古巴体验战争，收集西班牙军队所使用的枪弹的情报，，《每日纪事报》也聘请他为随军记者，为该报发稿，又以战地记者的身份去印度，写出了第一部著作《马拉坎德野战军纪实》，继而发表《萨伏罗拉》和《河上的战争》，文学天赋和政治思想在萌发。在参加了南非的镇压布尔人起义并光荣被俘后他成功进入政坛，在做了殖民地事务次官，内务大臣以后如愿当上了海军大臣，然而一战时的达达尼尔海峡战役的失败使他的声望降至谷底，阿斯奎斯政府的排挤使他心灰意冷，当上了皇家苏格兰毛瑟枪团第6营营长。后来的报告显示这次战役的主要责任在于首相和陆军大臣，于是劳合乔治组阁，任命邱吉尔为军需大臣，邱吉尔的机会又来到了，事实证明他是一个很有远见的人物，在任内推动了多项对今后战争产生深远影响的新发明，包括坦克，飞机和化学毒气，这些在我看来都是可谓大刀阔斧的动作，其手腕是当世政治家所罕有的。很简单，有时候一个交大毕业的高材生是远远比不上一个中学时代数学考零分的胖子的，尽管他们差距了半个多世纪。所以这本书之所以鼓舞人，即在于它告诉了我们，有时候人们往往会超出他本人的预料而做出一番大事，前提是他是做英雄的料，愿意并致力成为一个伟人，尽管邱吉尔的家世为他的成功铺下了很深的祭奠，尽管他有时候被人认为人品很差劲，但是他拯救英国于纳粹魔掌之中的功绩是不可抹杀的，也是他人生的制高点。

坚持到底，永不放弃...

已平静的文字，讲述着丘吉尔不平静的一生...化为八个字：坚持到底，永不放弃有时候我们需要明白自己在追求什么。如果你是希特勒，你就该追求德意志民族的复兴；当然如果你是温斯顿丘吉尔，那么就该阻止阿道夫希特勒....

丘吉尔在1924年就当上财政大臣 - 仅次于首相的政府高官，也是他父亲生前就任的最高职位。但是他父亲此后因政治失意后就郁郁寡欢，挂了，而他却在16年后登上首相座位。除了作为政治家的隐忍素质外（他还喜欢写书，这个癖好不单能赚钱还能赢得荣誉，满足人的虚荣心），就是二战了，没有二战，丘吉尔也只能和他老爹一样，止步于财政大臣之职。即便传记作者不吝溢美之词，但对于1929年到1939年这10年间丘吉尔的政治沉沦生涯，似乎未有客观的评论和分析。尽管政治人物都有沉浮的时候，比如中国邓小平的三起三落，有些主要是外部原因，但我认为丘吉尔的沉沦与自身的某些缺陷有直接联系。战后丘吉尔就被人赶下台。他自己也十分郁闷和不满，但这是人民的选择。有一点个人看法，对于那时就已经颇为民主的英国政治，政治高层人物的某些斗争其实很少是私人恩怨的，比如丘吉尔长期被排除在内阁之外，不是因为首相和他的问题，而是很多议员对丘吉尔不满，不支持他，首相也是看政治实力的选择在选择。。。时势造英雄，没必要神话他们。

版本问题

这个版本很多问题，读了一半，就后悔买这本书了。印刷和翻译都存在问题。很多地方校对不仔细。是一本简略的丘吉尔传，相当于管中窥豹，了解一二而已。不建议购买。没有了，没有了，凑字数，凑字数，好烦躁啊，写个简评还要凑字数，像写作文。。。
