内容概要

伊索的生平事迹，众说纷纭，难有定论。通行的说法是，伊索生于公元前620年前后，生下就是奴隶，先后有两个主人：桑索斯和亚德蒙，两人均为萨摩斯岛人，因为赏识伊索的才能，便还其自由人身份。伊索从此漫游列邦、广交贤哲，完成了这影响持续数千年的不朽名著。

约瑟夫•雅各布斯是著名民俗学家、作家，他生于1854年，在悉尼读完小学，十八岁时移居英国，四年后毕业于英国剑桥大学。他是一位多产作家，在十九世纪名闻遐迩，《伊索寓言》即其代表作之一。 后雅各布斯全家迁居美国，1916年卒于纽约。

作者简介

上海科学技术文献出版社以“徐家汇藏书楼双语故事经典”丛书之名，选取百年前问世的二十二个少儿文学经典版本进行编辑和翻译，采用中英文双语对照的形式出版，保留大量精美插图。沉睡中的经典被重新唤醒，走进现今孩童们的阅读生活里；它们超越了遥远的时空，历久弥新，因而获得了永恒的意味 。

《伊索寓言》是古希腊的一部寓言总集，1610年，瑞士学者伊萨克•内夫雷编辑出版了第三版的《伊索寓言》，自此以后的三百年间，就传播而言，除了《圣经》外 ，无一书能与《伊索寓言》相媲美。《伊索寓言》对欧洲乃至世界文学的发展产生了久远的、难以估量的影响。

本书英文选自1910年伦敦出版的《伊索寓言》，由生澳大利亚民俗学家约瑟夫•雅各布斯选编。这一版本在二十世纪最初十年间一版再版，是影响最大、流传最广、深受读者喜爱的图书之一。现在，我们将这一版本全书通译，完全采用原书的绘图，相信依旧能引起读者们的共鸣。
