This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the 9th International Workshop on Radical Innovations of Software and Systems Engineering in the Future, RISSEF 2002, held in Venice, Italy, in October 2002.    The 24 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from the 36 invited workshop presentations.
