近年来，在郭柏灵先生的支持和帮助下，华南理工大学数学科学学院面貌发生了可喜变化。学院引进了一批青年教授和优秀博士，教学、科研水平大大提高；学院多次召开国内外学术研讨会，加强了学术交流，扩大了学术影响；2005年获得应用数学博士点、数学硕士一级学科。郭柏灵先生还举荐多位杰出的专家教授来我校做客座教授，推荐我校青年教师到香港、北京学习访问，为我校青年教师的培养作出了很大贡献。2006年《郭柏灵论文集》前三卷正式出版，内容涵盖了郭柏灵先生及其合作者1995年以前的工作，受到国内外同行广泛关注。现在，文集出版到第六卷，所收录的论文截止到2004年。《郭柏灵论文集》的出版得到华南理工大学、北京应用物理与计算数学研究所苗长兴研究员、厦门大学谭绍滨教授的大力资助。文集的出版过程得到李元元校长、范家巧社长、吴敏院长的关心和支持，还得到华南理工大学出版社潘宜玲副社长、乔丽副总编的帮助，我们在此表示衷心感谢。华南师范大学丁时进教授、中山大学殷朝阳教授、广州大学尚亚东教授、北京应用物理与计算数学研究所孔令海博士和蒲学科博士、华南理工大学刘正荣教授和唐民英副教授等人对论文的搜集整理给予了极大帮助，华南理工大学数学科学学院偏微分方程方向的研究生在校对过程中也付出了辛勤劳动，在此一并表示衷心感谢。

《郭柏灵论文集(第6卷)》主要内容包括：Landau-Lifshitz方程（又称铁磁链方程）由于其结构的复杂性，特别是强耦合性和不带阻尼时的强退化性，在20世纪80年代之前国内外几乎没有从数学上进行理论研究的成果出现。最先进行研究的，当属周毓麟院士和郭老师，他们在1982年到1986年间，采用Leray-Schauder不动点定理、离散方法、Galerkin方法证明了从一维到高维的各种边值问题整体弱解的存在性，比国外在1992年才出现的同类结果早了将近10年。
