插图：Shanghai South Railway Station was officially put into use on July 1st, 2006, covering an area of 60 hectares together with the adjacent square. Looking like a flyingsaucer landing on the earth with an opened big umbrella in the distance, the mainbuilding is the largest train station with round roof transmitting light. With a diameter of 278 meters and a height of 47 meters, the main building is especially charming when night falls, because its roof transmits light and there are nopillars underneath. As a modern train station,  Shanghai South Railway Station hasperfect facilities and excellent service. With a waiting hall of 30,000 square metershanghai South Railway Station now has put 41 passenger train routes into use and gradually become an important railway traffic hub in Shanghai. The official operation of Shanghai South Railway Station has attracted one-third more passengers than that of the original railway station and facilitated the tourists and urban residents whotravel in the Yangtze River Delta area.
