版权页：   插图：   Dress represents ethic's sensation,represents formed etiquette and custom,and also represents esthetic sentiment of groups,which has great characteristic of succession,and its orthodox is very strong.Citizens in Beijing were much traditionalistic.No matter what historic time they lived in,they all thought the period when they born was genuine.All styles of dress,shoes,hats and hairdo which were descended from ancestors could be definite.The old Beijing was a much implosive city in history,and the dress had been following the style of Qing Dynasty(1644-1911) of long gown and Chinese jacket.During the 38 years of Republic of China(1912-1949),long gown and its variation took the prominent place of dress.The style of dress in Beijing went into the times of short-weight until 1950s.Then Chinese tunic suit and its variation manipulated the dress market in Beijing.The green army corps prevailed in Beijing during the Cultural Revolution(1966-1976),the dress was all green no matter they were men or women.After reform and opening-up,style of dress was many and various with pure personality.And there was nobody making irresponsible remarks on dress.

　　Ive lived in Beijing for 40 years since I began to work here．If someone asks me，“what is Beijing?”I dont know how to answer．For me，Beijing is too familiar to be described．　　In ancient time，Beijing was a city which surrounded by high walls，with the majestic power and the habits followed from dynasty to dynasty.　　Strictly speaking，Beijing is a capital city．Jin，Yuan，Ming，Qing dynasties all settled their capital here．After 1949，the Peoples Republic of China also chose Beijing as its capital．Beijing became Chinas political，economic and cultural center，SO it was called“heart”．Thus，not only many world-shaking myths were created here，but also leaved many deeply ingrained memory．　　People from different times have different memories，and the memories were getting faint by the time。However，only photography could make moment to eternity．　　Taking a camera，riding on bicycle or walking on foot，a young man who born in 1 960s has visited streets and alleys，left US the photographic memory about old Beijing，told US ancient and young stories of Beijing，and helped US to seek the answer of“what is Beijing”，this young man is the Beijing folk photographer Zhang Xiaoping．
