　　The Chinese embassy has learnt from theSudanese authorities on Monday that among the nineChinese workers abducted on October 19, five hadbeen killed, two had gone missing and the two othershad escaped the danger.　　The Chinese embassy strongly condemned thekilling, and was keeping contacts with the Sudaneseauthorities for more information about the incident,according to the Chinese officials. The embassy alsoasked Sudan to continue the operation of searchingthe two missing Chinese workers, urging Sudangovernment to take all the necessary measures tosafeguard the Chinese citizens in Sudan.　　The circumstances surrounding the deaths wereshadowy and Sudan denied that there had been anyclashes between security forces and the kidnappers,who reportedly identified themselves as the Justiceand Equality Movement.　　"It happened around 3:00 pm （1200 GMT）.Those people from JEM killed five Chinese and twoof the Chinese workers managed to escape. Theyare now with the government," foreign ministryspokesman Ali al-Sadiq told AFP.　　The killings came one day after Sudanexpressed confidence that the three engineers andsix workers from the China National PetroleumCorporation, would soon be released safe and well.　　The bodies and the two wounded formerhostages were recovered by Sudanese governmentforces in a small village in western Kordofan, andthe injured are undergoing medical treatment, thespokesman said.
