　　1　自然历史　　隼科有六十多名成员，它们和其他昼行性的猛禽，如鹰、雕和鹫，虽然在外形上有些相似，但或许只有较远的亲缘关系；有部分学者认为，隼和鹗的关系更近些。隼的外观及习性多种多样。从爱翻垃圾堆、叫声嘶哑并貌似秃鹫的卡拉鹰，到行为诡秘的热带丛林隼，它们所具有的相同特征，如鼻孔处的骨节和独特的换毛样式，是其同属隼家族的标志。在分类学上，隼科中“真正的隼”又被归入隼属（Falco）。它们形成于相对较近的年代，也就是大约距今七八百万年前。当时，气候变化新造就了几千万亩的热带草原和稀树草原。得益于这种开阔地形，生命类型快速、爆炸性地辐射开来。　　隼属常常被分为四组：体型大、以昆虫为食的燕隼；体型小、专捕鸟类的灰背隼；茶隼；以及还可细分为游隼和沙漠隼的一组大型隼。这里要介绍的游隼和沙漠隼都能快速飞行，长着黑眼睛，是开阔天空中的活跃猎手。游隼专捕鸟类，沙漠隼还能猎食小型哺乳动物、爬行动物和昆虫。和很多猎食鸟类的猛禽一样，这两类隼都显示出相反的二型性（RSD）：即雌鸟体型明显大于雄鸟。长期以来，进化生态学家们试图解释这种现象。也许雌鸟喜欢体型较小的雄鸟，因为它们对自己和幼鸟们威胁较小。或者，也许雌鸟在为积极争得拥有最佳捕食领地的雄鸟时，那些体型较大的获得了自然选择。

前言

　　1998年，肯·弗兰克林（Ken Franklin）训练了一只名叫非凡的雌性游隼，并让它跟着一名身着高速降落服自由下落的跳伞员，从4800多米高空的飞机上跳下。高速电影的片段记录了多次俯冲的过程，发现她把头深深埋在翅间，脚缩拢在羽毛下，让身体形成如雨滴般完美的空气动力学形态。当时速达到160公里时，哪怕身体和翅翼最细微的变化都会带来极大影响；它看上去正如弗兰克林后来所描述的那样，紧紧收拢，形似木乃伊。可是，就在人们感觉她的速度已不能再快时，她又一次改变自己的姿势：一只肩膀向前耸出，从阻挡它前进的空气分子间穿过，以超过320公里的时速划破长空，把目瞪口呆的摄影师远远甩开。　　隼是迄今为止速度最快的动物。我们为之兴奋，因为它显得比其他鸟类更高傲，浑身散发出危险、敏锐和天生的贵族气息。当然，这些都是我们自己形成的概念，根本不关隼什么事。它们虽然是一种真实的、活生生的动物，但却只能被人类透过所谓的文化眼镜（Kulturbrille）——人类学家弗朗茨.博厄斯（Franz goas）所说的，依托个人文化背景来观察世界的一副心灵透镜——来审视。

  •     对这系列评价不高主要是因为我不喜欢把动物和人类文化联系在一起有逻辑地写成一本书。
  •     不够科普。。主要文化方面谈的多些。。所以没看完
