版权页：   插图：   Are Training Classes or Tutors Necessary? At present, it is common for students to attend training classes or hire tutors at weekend. Opinions are divided on this matter. Some think it necessary to do so. Firstly, it's more effective to study with a teacher's help than by themselves. Secondly, you can have more chances to communicate with teachers. Besides, you can make up for what you miss or fail to understand in classes on weekdays. Others think it unnecessary. For one thing, students can easily form the habit of dependence. For another, students need time for rest and recreation at weekend. What's worse, attending training classes or hiring tutors even causes some students not to listen attentively in their regular classes. In my opinion, whether a training class or tutor is needed just depends. If you are really very weak at or interested in a certain subject, maybe it's OK for you. But be sure to choose a good and suitable class or teacher, otherwise it would be a waste of time and money. It's well-known to us that such universities as Beijing University will admit some freshmen recommended by their headmasters. Of course it is well praised in most of the schools. However, it is also resulting in much doubt. Its advantages and disadvantages may be listed as follows. Some hold the view that it will play a leading role managing to reform our present education admission system only decided by the scores in the National Exam. Besides, it does great good to accept some students with personal preferences. For example, some students have a gift for science, technology, or inventing while they may be poor in other subjects or may not achieve satisfactory score in the Examination. As a result of the low score, they are sure to be refused by the key universities. On the contrary, it is true that some show much doubt of its honesty from headmasters or the justice when the students are recommended. Sometimes, deciding who to be recommended, the headmasters may be influenced by other abnorreal factors from inside or outside the school in China. In my opinion, it must be a good try and of great benefit if the headmasters can avoid the disadvantages, such as the injustice, dishonesty.
