  •     Stereotype...The book is simply a glorification of American democracy over the evil Fascism. It is a little too light and simple: the stereotypes of army personnel and the local Italian personalities seem so trite. And it seems to me that the book is a symbol of that era: the US, land of democracy, is trying to prove their superiority over Fascism.
