麦克•贝茨勋爵（The Rt. Hon. Lord Michael Bates）

1961年出生于英国北部纽卡索。牛津大学工商管理硕士。

英国上议院议员、终身贵族，现任政府国务大臣，原保守党副主席、上议院副议长及副主席。2009年开始进行慈善公益徒步。

自2011年开始，贝茨勋爵在夫人雪琳的帮助下，进行了以下长距离慈善公益徒步：


2011—2012年“为奥林匹克休战徒步”，从希腊奥林匹亚到英国伦敦，历时300天，徒步4693.1 公里；


2013年“为和平徒步”，从英国伦敦到英国德里，历时35天，徒步834.9公里，募集了5万英镑善款捐给拯救儿童基金会用于帮助叙利亚儿童。


2014年为纪念第一次世界大战爆发100周年“为和平徒步”，从英国伦敦到德国柏林，历时54天，徒步1697.5公里，募集了4万英镑善款捐给德国和平村慈善机构用于帮助战乱地区儿童的救援工作。


2015年“为和平徒步”，从中国北京到中国杭州，历时71天，徒步1702.7公里，募集了9万英镑善款捐给红十字会推荐的沿途慈善项目。


2016年“为奥林匹克休战徒步”，从阿根廷布宜诺斯艾利斯到巴西里约热内卢，历时115天，徒步3025公里，募集了超过26万英镑善款捐给联合国儿童基金会。

【译者介绍】

李雪琳•贝茨勋爵夫人（Lady Xuelin Li Bates）

1964年出生于中国杭州。浙江大学建筑系硕士毕业后赴英留学。在英国从商二十余年。英国上议院终身贵族贝茨勋爵夫人，慈善家。

英国为和平徒步基金会主席，英国中华总商会常务副主席，英国浙江联谊会主席。

全国政协第十二届代表大会列席代表，全国侨联海外理事，浙江省海外交流协会副会长。

《徒步中国——爱与和平的信仰征途》讲述了英国贝茨勋爵2015年71天从北京至杭州的徒步故事。在这段旅程中，贝茨勋爵遇到了一些令人赞叹的人和地方，感知到一个真正的当代中国。

这本书收录了贝茨勋爵的徒步日记英文全文70余篇以及中文精华50余篇，真实记录了一位英国政要眼中的当代中国和沿途感悟。文字轻松幽默，充满哲学性思索。

日记中有一些中英比较，比如饮食、礼节、观念；有一些感悟，比如体育有助于社会秩序，残疾儿童希望之家体会感恩知足；有一些当日事件记录，比如沿途民众送水；有一些周边人物素描，比如妻子、红会人员、志愿者、路人、村民、沿途接见的领导、招待人员；有一些休息日活动记录，如中学演讲，纪念馆参观，与王石赛艇。
