　　In 1826， a Frenchman named Niepce needed pictures for his business. But hewas not a good artist. So he invented a very simple camera. He put it in awindow of his house and took a piciure of his garden. That was the first photo.　　The next important date in the history of photography was in 1837. Thatyear， Daguerre， another Frenchman， took a picture of his reading room. He used anew kind of camera in a different way. In his picture you could see everything veryclearly， even the smallest thing. This kind of photo was called a Daguerreotype.　　Soon， other people began to use Daguerres way. Travelers brought back won-derful photos from all around the world. People took pictures of famous buildings，cities and mountains.　　In about 1840， photography was developed. Then photographers could take pic-tures of people and moving things. That was not simple. The photographers had tocarry a lot of films and other machines. But this did not stop them， for example， somein the United States worked so hard.　　Mathew Brady was a famous American photographer. He took many pictures ofgreat people. The pictures were unusual because they were very lifelike.

　　本书是为《英语1（基础模块）》教材配套编写的同步学习练习册。全书共分为10个单元，与教材中的各个单元完全配套。本练习册以巩固教材的基本教学要求为目标，突出语言知识的应用和语言综合技能的训练，习题的设置尽量是学生们熟悉的生活或职业场景，体现职业特色。在编写过程中，考虑到不同地区、不同专业的不同要求和不同学生之间的差异，我们采取了层层深入的编写原则，在每个单元精编了“重点回顾”、“基础训练”和“拓展训练”三大模块，具体内容如下：　　1.重点回顾　　这个模块分三个部分：重点词汇、交际用语和语法总结。分别从词汇、口语和语法三个方面对各个单元的重点进行简单总结，让学生在做练习之前，首先对各单元的重点知识进行一下简单回顾。　　2.基础训练　　在基础训练部分，分别设置了10种不同类型的题目，内容涉及各单元的重点词汇、口语、语音和语法，从各个方面对学习效果进行考查，让学生在练习中巩固和深化各单元的重点知识。　　3.拓展训练　　拓展训练部分主要训练学生综合运用知识的能力，题目难度也有一定的增加，目的是锻炼学生综合运用英语的能力。　　在本书的编写过程中，为了提高大家学习英语的兴趣，我们配备了相对应的图片，便于学生理解和答题。　　由于时间仓促，书中难免存在不当之处，恳请广大读者提出宝贵意见，以待再版时修订。
