icon-driven projects,particularly those that go beyond "logo"architecture,open a new dimension in the restructuring of a city .they provide new spaces that, if crafted correctly,can be significant contributors to the urbanity of a city at large .more importantly,icon-driven projects have the ability to operate at multiple levels an d scales ,and to endow diverse geographies with significant worldwide recognition.it is important to note the ability of key buildings to communicate the innovative capacity of a city , depending on the scope and ambition of a key building , its area of influence will vary ,in a gradient ,from regional to global,establishing a network and competition system among varying cities.
Given the high-paced competitions between different cities at both regional and globe scales, the desire for iconic buildings has become a significant urbanistic preoccupation. in a recurrent manner, urban centers throughout the globe are in a constant search for singular architectural pieces associated to a"star architect" system that can deliver an architectural trademark .
it's evident that the most successful iconic projects are those that can deliver a highly innovative product while they maintain an intellectual and discursive rigor that goes beyond effective branding techniques .iconic projects that transcend the effects of fashion and operate at more than one level in the city are ones that establish a successful presence,cast an operative net that goes far beyond their physical boundaries ,and harvest positive results for many decades.
