Pan Zhihong was bom in Ningbo City,
Zhejiang Province in 1928. After completing
his education at the Industrial Management
Department of the former Jiangnan
University in 1951, he began to do planning,
research and teaching at the Third Ministry
of Machine-Building Industry and then at
the Fourth Ministry of Machine-Building
Industry. Starting in 1979, he taught at the
Beijing Institute of Economics and became
dean of the Industrial Economics
Department of that institute. While working
at the school, he took part in an investigation
of the large enterprises under the First
Ministry of Machine-Building Industry and
experimental work in the reform of
enterprise structures organized by the State
Economic Commission. He won the first
prize for his teaching achievements in the
college education in Beijing in 1986. He
went to America in early 1988, and became
a guest research fellow at the Johnson
Graduate School of Management of the
Comell University. He emigrated to the
United States the next winter. Since then, he
has continued his studies in enterprise
management, China's macro economics,
market and investment, and has written
many books, including A Must for Factory
Directors, Handbook on Shop Management,
Production Management, The Quantitative
Method in the Management Work and
Modern Management (Examples) in the
United States.
Pan Chi, born in Shanghai in 1966,
completed his studies at the Qinghua
University and graduated with a bachelor
degree in practical dynamics and a bachelor
degree in electrical engineering and its
control in 1989. He went to the United
States the same year and received his
master's degree in electrical engineering at
Northeastem University in 1991. Later he
became a software engineer and senior
software engineer, mainly engaged in
software management and the design and
development of stock investment software.
At the same time, he took part in the work of
market analysis and development. The stock
investment software he developed has taken
a lead in comparison with other software of
the same type. He entered the Columbia
Business School in the autumn of 1996 and
majored in intemational finance and
investment. At the same time, he has done
research related to the investment in China.
